Chris Garrett

Executive Director

Chris started working in residential treatment in 2008 while pursuing a degree in social work.  Within a year, he was made coordinator for an intensive young adult program.  He received a bachelor's degree in social work from Lewis-Clark State College and went on to earn a master’s degree in social work from Boise State University in 2011. He continued working in residential treatment as a counselor for a year before moving on to the next stage of his career.

In 2012, Chris began working as a therapist in private practice, as well as for the Emergency Department at Kootenai Behavioral Health. In the Emergency Department, Chris administered mental health/safety evaluations, and crisis management.  He also participated in the intake process, treatment planning and discharge coordination of patients on the behavioral health unit. After more than a year in the Emergency Department, Chris moved into a role as a counselor for the Youth Acute unit, providing individual, family and group counseling to children and adolescents.

In 2015 Chris accepted a position with Heritage Health, a community-based health center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  Over the next three years, he worked full time as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Idaho’s Silver Valley. Chris was instrumental in building a mental health program to serve the needs of a struggling rural community. Chris helped build their program from no mental health services to a thriving program with two full-time counselors, one part-time counselor, substance abuse treatment and medication management.

In 2018, Chris returned to his transition program roots, accepting a position as Integrated Interventions’ program director. Chris brings to the table a diverse clinical background, as well as a working knowledge of residential treatment at all levels.  He has a passion for working with young adults and their families. In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family and training for various endurance-style races. Chris has completed the Coeur d’Alene Triathlon twice, two marathons, a half marathon, the Coeur d’Fondo (Gran), and two sprint distance Spartan races.
