Chris Garrett

Chris started working in residential treatment in 2008 while working on a degree in Social Work.  Within a year of starting in the field he was made a coordinator for an intensive young adult program.  Chris continued his education graduating from Lewis-Clark State College, then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Social Work from Boise State University in 2011.  Chris continued to work in residential treatment as a counselor for another year before moving on to the next stage of his career.

In 2012 Chris began working as a therapist in private practice as well as for the Emergency Department at Kootenai Behavioral Health. In the Emergency Department Chris administered mental health/safety evaluations, and crisis management.  Chris also participated in the intake process, treatment planning and discharge coordination of patients on the behavioral health unit. After spending over a year in the Emergency Department Chris moved in to a role as a counselor on the Youth Acute unit providing individual, family and group counseling to children and adolescents.

In 2015 Chris accepted a position with a community based health center (Heritage Health).  Over the next three years he worked full time as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the Silver Valley. Chris was instrumental in building a mental health program to serve the needs of a struggling rural community.  During that time Chris helped in the process of building a program that started with no mental health services to a thriving program with two full time counselors, one part time counselor, substance abuse treatment and medication management.

In 2018 Chris returned to his Transition Program roots accepting a position with Integrated Interventions as the program director.  Chris brings to the table a diverse clinical background, as well as a working knowledge of residential treatment at all levels.  He has a passion for working with young adults and their families. Along with his professional accomplishments Chris enjoys spending time with his family and training for various endurance-style races.  To date Chris has completed the Coeur d’Alene Triathlon twice, two marathons, a half marathon, the Coeur d’Fondo (Gran), and most recently two sprint distance Spartan races.
